Monthly Meeting Minutes 12/21/2017

Time                   Event:

1900                   Meeting was called to order by Commander Charles Avery.

                            Chaplin: Arnie Regensberger opened the meeting with a special prayer.

                            Posting of the colors ceremony was conducted and It was    
                            immediately followed by the posting of the MIA flag.

1910                   Roll Call: By Commander Avery

                            Twelve members were present

Maureen Morgan, Joe Green, and Dr. Howie Goldin was absent (excused) Ander Curtis, Alan Moskin, John Boykin, Cyro Puloso, and Manny Carmona were  absent. 
                            This meeting had 12 members present and was determined judicially to have a quorum.                                                                   
                            The minutes from the last meeting was placed on the tables for all to read. However the finance report was read and approved. A copy was also made available for the adjutant.                            The past meeting's minutes was accepted and will be posted on the Website.

1920                  Ken Nurse, the acting adjutant was asked to attend a meeting on the upper floor held by the group known as CUPON Spring Valley.

                           Membership:  Mr Robert Young Sr. 2nd Vice Commander informed the meeting that there were 56 members out of a total of 93 (70%). Twenty seven (27) of those members had not paid their yearly dues.

1922               Committee Reports: Mr.Peter Medina Chairman of All Committees reported that $1359.00 was turned in from ticket sales. The Holiday party will be held at Krotkers on April 21st from 7pm to 11pm. Adults = $65 and children $30.00. There will be free beer, wine, soda. Dinner will include Prime Ribs, Filet and Chicken. A DJ will provide music for dancing. Peter Medina also thanked everyone for supporting him at the Night of Heroes awards ceremony which was held on December 12th in the Bronx. A meeting pertaining to post 199 acquisition of the Little League Building on Dutch Lane in Spring Valley will be held with the New Mayor of Spring Valley at 2pm on Wednesday December 26th 2017. To attend will be Commander Avery, Peter Medina, and Ken Nurse. Peter Medina also mentioned that there will be an announcement of the veteran of the year during the Christmas party celebration.

Old Business: Peter Medina thanked everyone for supporting him at the Night of Heroes awards ceremony which was held on December 12th in the Bronx.

New Business: Mr. Robert Young Sr. Read the guidelines for the preparation of the resume for March and April 2018, which must be made ready by the legionnaire of the year. An announcement was also made by Peter Medina that the National Commander's Dinner will be held on the first Friday in April 2018 at Anthon's in Queens NY. Attendees will be Mr. Robert Young Sr. and Kenneth Nurse. Tickets will be $130. Two tickets will be needed.

The Mid Winter Conference will be held on 19, 20, 21 January 2018. In attendance will be Mr. Robert Young and Mr. Kenneth Nurse.

Good for the Legion: 2nd Vice Commander Mr. Robert Young Sr. along with the Chairperson of all Committees Mr. Peter Medina, presented a Plaque to 1st Vice Commander Kenneth Nurse and congratulated him on his selection as Mascarella Post #199 American Legion member of the year. Americanism:  

A memorial statute depicting Megan Levy and her Dog Rex was ordered and received, and is ready for the ground breaking ceremony for Desert Shield/Desert Storm/ Bosnia/ Iraq and Afghanistan combat veterans. This event will take place on memorial day 2018 in Haverstraw Bay Park. Judge Advocate Dr. Howard Goldin is in charge of that event.

Sick Call.   According to Peter Medina, Joe Taxten is still sick, however he is doing much better.                       

New Mail: there were no New Mail

50/50 club:

Collected $46. and $23 went to the Service Officer John Sayers.

Chaplin Arnie Regensberger, said the benediction.

2015: The colors and the POW flag were retired by the acting Sergeant of Arms.

2020: Post 199 commander Charles Avery adjourned the meeting for this night.
